The water mites are often overlooked in monitor surveys because they are so small. Dispite the fact that these are a very diverse group of arthropods, Ohio EPA doesn't carry the taxonomy beyond the subclass Hydrachnidia. Reference to keying further (to genus) is made to D.G. Smith (2001), while I.M. Smith (2016) carries taxonomy to species.
